Hiren's BootCD

Hiren 's BootCD ( HBCD short ) is a bootable CD or USB stick live system based on an adapted "Mini Windows XP" (Windows PE ) and the boot manager GRUB4DOS is based. In addition, the Linux distro Parted Magic is offered to the start.

Primary goal is to save or restore damaged Microsoft Windows systems. In addition, it offers various choices for data recovery, backup and forensics. The Software is " Swiss Army knife " is recommended as an irreplaceable for PC maintenance and heard in download portals for the most downloaded software.

Description

The CD will be continuously developed since the early 2000s. Version 5 was released in 2004, version 15 in late 2011. About the authors only the title of their website " Hiren & Pankaj " is known.

Hiren 's BootCD is currently (2013 ) a reference to the live rescue systems is similar to the rescue CDs such as Knoppix or Bart PE, but with a four -to six- fold range of programs. Technically it's based on a Linux live system, but is geared towards Windows systems and read and write access to the location, to the NTFS file system. Furthermore, the complete system offers a variety of portable software, which provide comprehensive assistance in the administration of a Windows system.

There are numerous projects derived ( Forks ), which expand the program package as the basic version.

Licensing Issues

Prior to version 11.0 Hiren 's BootCD included several commercial programs, including Acronis True Image, Norton Ghost, Acronis Disk Director and Paragon Partition Manager. Before the start of each of these programs, the user must confirm that they have a valid license, but a further review did not take place.
