Historical Museum of Bern

The Bernese Historical Museum at Helvetia in Bern is the second largest historical museum in Switzerland.

Collection

The Bernese Historical Museum has extensive collections of Prehistory and Early History in the Canton of Bern, the history of the city and canton of Bern as well as an important ethnographic collection. Worth mentioning are the Burgundian tapestries that were taken off the Bold during the Burgundian Wars the Burgundian Duke Charles. Construction

The building was built by the end of 1892 to 1894 in Bern Church 's field headquarters in the style of historicism by Eduard von Rodt and Adolf Tièche and was originally home to the Swiss National Museum. This institution was finally settled in accordance with the decision of the Federal Assembly in Zurich. Later, the roof structure was changed and renewed the roof.
