Hitomi Shimatani

Hitomi Shimatani (Japanese島谷 ひとみ, real name :岛 谷 瞳, Hitomi Shimatani, born September 4, 1980 in Kure ) is a Japanese J- pop singer. It is under contract with the Japanese label avex trax.

Life

Since Hitomi Shimatani was little, she wanted to be a famous singer. At the age of 17, when she was still in high school, she opted for a future in the music industry. She took part in a casting, which was avex trax organized by the Japanese record label. From about 200 girls Hitomi was selected and got a contract with avex. She wanted to finish school first, which avex agreed, but on condition that she took singing lessons during school hours; a proposal which they agreed.

After finishing school and getting ready felt her career as a young singer to start ( in 1999), she released her first single Osaka no Onna (大阪 の 女, GV " The woman from Osaka "), an Enka. Although this single received many good reviews and even some awards, it did not sell particularly well. Therefore Hitomi decided that Osaka no Onna should remain their first and only single - Enka. She took a few more songs and in 2000 released their second single titled Kaihōku (解放区, dt 'free zone' ) that is very different from their first single, and more pop elements contained.

The big breakthrough had to wait until the release of their fourth single papillon to be a Japanese version of Janet Jackson Does not Really Matter. The single was a huge success and made it the top artists from avex trax. Overall, she has released 22 singles, five studio albums, a Best - Of album and a mini album (or Christmas album ).

Hitomi loves to give her songs exotic title. Pieces such as Perseus ( Perseusペルセウス- Peruseus - Peruseusu ), Falco (Falco ~ファルコ~ Falco ~ ~ Faruko ) or Spanish titles like bella flor and La Fiesta are just a few of these songs. Also to anime and video games she has with songs like ANGELUS - Anjerasu ( ANGELUS -アンジェラ ス- ANGELUS - Anjerasu ( 6 Opening of the TV anime Inuyasha ) and Garnet Moon ( Main Theme of the PlayStation 2 game Another Century 's episode).
