Kure, Hiroshima

Kure (Japanese呉 市, -shi ) is a city in Hiroshima Prefecture in southwestern Honshu, the main island of Japan.

History

The city of Kure was founded on 1 October 1902.

Economy

Economically significant addition engineering yet shipyards and the steel and paper industries.

Before the Second World War the town was one of the largest naval ports of the Japanese empire. Here also, the battleship Yamato was built. As of 1952, the U.S. engineer Daniel Keith Ludwig had built at the naval shipyard at the time the largest tankers in the world.
