Hitotsubashi University

The Hitotsubashi University (Jap.一 桥 大学, Hitotsubashi daigaku ) is a Japanese national university located in Tokyo, with locations in Kunitachi, Kodaira, and Kanda.

Background

The Hitotsubashi University has an excellent reputation in the field of the social sciences, especially the faculties of business administration, economics and sociology are among the most prestigious in all of Japan. History

The University has its origins in the 1875 by the statesman, diplomat, and founder of modern Japanese education system Mori Arinori ( 1847-1889 ) under the name of " commercial and legal establishment " (商法 讲习 所, Shoho kōshūjo ) created private school. Beginning, the Belgian curricula and methods, introduced by Prof. Edouard- Joseph Blockhuys (1862-1931), Arthur Maréchal and JJM van Stappen (1852-1915) predominant. In 1884 she was a state trade school, and moved in 1885 to enable Kanda Hitotsubashi. There developed it in 1887 to the Higher commercial School (高等 商业 学校, Kōtō shōgyō Gakko ), 1902 then to the Higher commercial School Tokyo. 1920, she became the state Graduate School of Tokyo (东京 商科 大学, Tōkyō Shōka daigaku ). 1923 harmed the Kantō earthquake difficult the school building, and in 1927 moved to the University by Kodaira and Kunitachi. 1949 she received its present name.
