HMS Mohawk (F31)

HMS Mohawk ( F31 ) was a Tribal - class destroyer of the Royal Navy (RN).

The ship was on July 16, 1936 ( Woolston, Hampshire ) is placed at the John I. Thornycroft & Co. at Kiel, launched on October 5, 1937 and put into service on September 7, 1938.

The Mohawk escorted convoys in the North Sea and operated in conjunction with the 14th Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean. There she took part in the Battle of Punta Stilo and in March 1941 at the Battle of Cape Matapan in July 1940.

When attacking an Italian convoy was hit by two torpedoes of the Italian Navigatori - class destroyer Luca Tarigo and sank on April 16, 1941 before the Kerkenna Islands in the eastern Tunisia. 43 crew members lost their lives.
