Hochjuvalt (often incorrectly referred to as Niederjuvalt ) was Innerjuvalt with one of the two castles on the territory of the municipality Roth fountain in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The name is derived from, Jugum altum '(= high yoke ).

Location

The ruin is easily visible on a narrow rocky outcrop about 200 meters high above the Rhine. The original castle path is spilled. Hochjuvalt is considered the older of the two castles of Rothenburg and was probably built in the 12th century as the seat of the Lords of Juvalt.
