The College of Fine Arts in Braunschweig ( Braunschweig University ) is an art school founded in 1963 in Braunschweig.

History

The history of the College of Fine Arts in Braunschweig began in 1790: Johann Carl Kahnt founded on behalf of Duke Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand an architectural and technical drawing institute. After the closure of the lesson was taken from Braunschweig's trade association, which under the leadership of John Selenka called the "Drawing Institute " into being in 1841. For this character Institute has developed later through various stations, the state-recognized urban artisans arts and crafts school, and shortly thereafter the Master School of Craftsmen.

The actual precursor of HBK was the Academy of Fine Arts ( SHFBK ), which emerged in 1963 from the municipal art school in Brunswick. In 1978, from the SHBFK the Academy of Fine Arts ( HBK ). Even the SHFBK was assimilated to scientific universities in the country since 1972 and was incorporated a few years later as an artistic and scientific university in the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act; it has since the doctoral and postdoctoral law. Connected with this recognition was a human and spatial extension of the university. 1984, the award-winning new building in Braunschweig architect Kraemer, Sieverts & Partner was inaugurated a few years later a multi-storey former factory building was purchased, where many of the artistic classes and studios are housed generous. Organization

The university is an institution of the country at the same time a public corporation. She has a presidential constitution. The HBK Braunschweig is not organized in the traditional sense in faculties.
