Hubertus von Amelunxen

Hubertus von Amelunxen (* 1958 in Bad Hindelang ) since 1 October 2010, President of the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig. He was from 2001 to 2007 Senior Consultant Curator at the Centre Canadien d'Architecture in Montreal. Hubertus von Amelunxen has written and published several books on the history and theory of photography.

Life

Hubertus von Amelunxen studied from 1978 Romance languages ​​, German and art history in Marburg and Paris. In 1991 he taught in the area of ​​art history at the University of Basel. 1991/92 he was a visiting professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, he obtained his Ph.D. in Romance Studies at the University of Mannheim in 1992.

From 1995 to 2000 he worked as a professor at the Muthesius Academy of Art and Design in Kiel, where he founded the Center for Interdisciplinary Studies Project.

2000/ 01 he taught at the Philosophical Faculty of the Heinrich -Heine University in Dusseldorf and at the Institute of Fine Arts ( HISK ) in Antwerp. He became a founding commissioner of the International School of New Media in Luebeck. This institution was closed in 2012.

Since 2003 he is member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin and since 2005 Rector of the École européenne supérieure de l'image Angouleme / Poitiers in France. He designed several international exhibitions, including Tomorrow For Ever - Photography as ruin in Krems / Duisburg ( 2000). Since October 1, 2010, he was the successor of Barbara Straka President of the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig.
