The HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil is a part of the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland ( FHO ).

The HSR has been working in the two fields of engineering and information technology as well as architecture, construction and planning. She teaches around 1,400 students in bachelor's degree programs in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy and Environmental Engineering, computer science, landscape architecture, mechanical engineering | Innovation and Spatial Planning. At Level Master HSR offers the degree program "Master of Science in Engineering MSE ". At the 18 institutions in the field of applied research and development ( aF E) as well as in the service sector are currently more than 200 employees and 70 professors busy.

The HSR offers continuing education courses in the fields of engineering and information technology as well as architecture, construction and planning. In the center of the range are the federally recognized Postgraduate ( Master of Advanced Studies MAS) that lead to a diploma and protected titles. In addition, training courses, certificate courses, diploma courses and industry-specific training courses for companies, associations and organizations are offered.

History

It was founded in 1972 as a school Interkantonales pilot Rapperswil (ITR ) of the cantons of Zurich, St. Gallen, Schwyz and Glarus. In 1998, the ITR retroactively to 1997 the status of a technical college, what the new name had HSR Hochschule für Technik Rapperswil result. Due to a restructuring of cantonal university landscape of the canton of Zurich has emerged in 2008 from the carrier Concordat. The school is supported by the cantons of St. Gallen now, Schwyz and Glarus.

  • Institute for Landscape and Open Space (ILF )
  • Institute for the History and Theory of Landscape Architecture ( GTLA )
  • Institute of Spatial Planning (IRAP )

Institute for Landscape and Open Space (ILF )

The ILF developed innovative tools and application- oriented solutions. These range over the entire range of landscape architecture from small to large scales. The ILF wants to support actors in administration, business and policy effective and practical. The Institute is closely linked to the study Landscape Architecture at the HSR.

Institute of Microelectronics and Embedded Systems ( IMES)

IMES develops embedded software, discrete analog and digital electronics, as well as customer -specific integrated circuits ( ASIC).

Institute for Software ( IFS)

The IFS handles all issues relating to software development. Focuses on modern Agile development methodology, Human-Computer Interaction Design as well as databases and Geoinformatics / GIS. The offer includes consulting, studies, coaching and software development.

Institute for Environmental and Process Engineering ( UMTEC )

UMTEC method developed in the classical application-oriented environmental technology and research to innovative applications in multiple related fields together with and on behalf of government agencies and industry partners. The activities in applied research and development aimed at minimizing the environmental effects of pollutants in waste, leachate and waste water and exhaust gases. In addition, technologies are being developed to manage resources economically and ecologically sustainable.

Cooperations

The university is part of the composite IBH. The HSR are affiliated with various associations, such as the association of students at the HSR ( VSHSR ), the Association of the lecturers at the HSR ( VD- HSR) and the Association of Former Students of the Hochschule Rapperswil (ETR ).

In the areas of applied research and development as well as training the HSR maintains contacts with private companies to partner universities in Germany and abroad as well as to networks of expertise.

An example of cooperation in the field of computer science is the foundation of the first Microsoft Innovation Center (MIC ) in Switzerland. Based at the HSR MIC is a joint initiative of Microsoft Switzerland and the HSR. The center supports software producers with training and consulting services. At the HSR and open source software is supported (eg with the CH Open Source Award 2009 Swiss Ness strongSwan project).
