Hodod

Hodod (Hungarian Hadad [ hɒdɒd ] German war village) is a municipality in the district of Satu Mare in Romania.

The community Hodod consists of four villages:

  • 5.2 Market

Geography

The community Hodod located in the hills of Codrus, located in the extreme southeast of the circle Satu Mare and is bordered to the west on the community Bogdand, in the north to the county of Maramureş and in the east and south by the Salaj county.

The place Hodod, on the county road (Drum Judetean ) DJ located 196, is located about 10 kilometers west of the town Cehu Silvaniei in Kr Salaj; the county capital of Satu Mare is located approximately 70 kilometers north of Hodod away.

  • Magyars: 2166 ( 67.70 %)
  • Romanians: 907 ( 28.35 %)
  • Roma: 79 (2.46 %)
  • German: 46 ( 1.43% )

In the village live Hodod 912 people, including 717 Hungary, 78 Roma, 72 Romanians and 44 German.

In 2002, the religious composition of the community was as follows:

  • Reformed: 60.26 %
  • Orthodox: 27.57 %
  • Baptists: 7.87%
  • Pentecostals: 1.71%
  • Catholics: 0.84%
  • Seventh- day Adventist: 0.56%

Language

The official language is Romanian. In Hodod, Nadisu Hododului and Lelei is predominantly spoken Hungarian. In Giurtelecu Hododului one speaks mainly Romanian. The Roma speak Romani ( language of the Sinti and Roma). A small minority speaks German.

In villages with predominantly Hungarian population, it is common to use the Hungarian place names ( Hadad Hadadgyőrtelek, Hadadnádasd, Lele ).

Policy

The Council of the Municipality Hodod has 11 councilors. In the local elections of June 2012 Francisc Balog ( UDMR ) was elected mayor.

In Hodod there is a primary school with branches in the villages Nadisu, Giurtelecu and Lelei.

Agriculture

The economy of the commune is mainly based on agriculture ( crops, livestock and beekeeping ).

Market

In Hodod there is a large market every first Monday of the month.
