History

Hogan Lovells went in 2010 from the merger of law firms Hogan & Hartson and Lovells forth.

Lovells was a business law firm with headquarters in London and 28 locations in many major cities in the world, but especially in Europe and the Far East. The firm was founded as a " Lovells " on 1 January 2000, its history goes but in parts to the 19th century. The English part of the firm can be traced back to the London law firm of John Lovell. The German goes back to the firm Droste in Hamburg, which merged in 1997 with the Frankfurt office Boesebeck Barz & Partner.

Hogan & Hartson was a law firm founded in 1904 with headquarters in Washington, DC with 27 offices in North and Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Structure

Hogan Lovells has a social structure that consists of two limited partnerships, one of which includes the U.S. offices and the offices in the other countries. Both are combined by an association under Swiss law.

Prior to the merger, the Warsaw and the Geneva office of Hogan & Hartson seceded. From their Berlin office, numerous lawyers also made ​​independently by Peter Raue.
