Högenbach

The Högenbach is a nearly ten -kilometer left, southeast tributary of the river Pegnitz.
River
The Högenbach rises in the village of Högen, community Weigendorf. In earlier times, the water came forth also from Beselberg, which rises at the end of the valley east of Högen. At the time of snowmelt can be significant inflow of water, but is not then part of the now normal watercourse.
The Högenbach is fed in the village Högen from multiple sources, which run up to him partly in small streams.
Before it forms part Hartmannshof the border between the districts of Middle Franconia and Upper Palatinate. After the village of Grassington it flows into the river Pegnitz.

Fauna
In the Traufhängen Högenbachtals the following animals can be observed:
- Peregrine Falcon, Owl, Black Woodpecker and Red-backed Shrike
- Greater mouse-eared
- Smooth snake and sand lizard
Recreation
The Högenbachtal offers good opportunities for hiking, and on the Högenbach itself (only Selbstbeschränkgung necessary because most low water supply ) is year-round opportunities for canoeing, kayaking allowed
