Hohe Warte (Fichtelgebirge)

BWf1

The High Waiting in Berneck is a mountain with a lookout tower in the western Fichtelgebirge. It is not to be confused with the nearby mountain range of the same name in and north of Bayreuth.

Topography

The Hohewarte is a diabase survey immediately west of Bad Berneck with a height of 547 m above sea level. NN. At the foot of the mountains, the German roads meet 2 and 303 together. There the Ölschnitz empties into the White Main.

Trail and observation tower

The Main Trail ( blue M on a white background ) leads uphill from the Evangelical Church on the Green Pavilion ( lookout point above the Kurhaus rock ) further to the viewpoint Rother rock and from there to the summit. At the summit since 1975 is a round observation tower in wooden structure, built by the Fichtelgebirge Nature Park. The covered observation deck offers views of the Main valley, the Fichtelgebirge, in the Franconian Jura and the Franconian Forest.

Ground monument

On the south-facing spur of the corridor Hohewarte (Church Leite ) was a rampart, whose sections are still visible. The plant, however, can not be dated.
