It rises south-west of Jenolan Caves in the far west of the Kanangra - Boyd National Park and flows along its western boundary south to the small town Tuglow. It follows therefore also the crest of the Great Dividing Range on its eastern side.

In Tuglow he unites with the Tuglow River, forming the Kowmung River. Only in Tuglow where there are interesting limestone caves, crosses a non- paved road to the river.
