The Warragamba River is a river in the east of the Australian state of New South Wales. It is a tributary of the Nepean River, a source of the River Hawkesbury River. In him the Warragamba Dam was built, where the river to Lake Burragorang, the largest reservoir for water supply of Sydney, is dammed.

Before the construction of the dam of the Warragamba River at the confluence of the Coxs River, Nattai River and Wollondilly River originated in Burragorang Valley. Downstream, the river passed a gorge that was wide and 100 m deep between 300 m and 600 m. This configuration enabled the construction of a narrow, but fairly high dam which allowed the accumulation of a large amount of water in the canyon. Today, the Burragorang Valley and a large part of the river from Lake Burragorang are covered and the remaining portion of the river flows from the lower end of the Warragamba Dam only 3.5 miles to the confluence with the Nepean River.
