Holtålen

Holtålen is a commune (municipality ) in the central Norwegian county Sør -Trøndelag.

It is located in a sparsely populated mountain, a well-known alpine valley in the region is Hessdalen. The largest town and administrative center is Ålen; more settlements are, for example, Haltdalen and Aunegrenda. By 1986, iron and copper ore was mined in the area. Today, tourism is one of the main branches of acquisition. Especially hunters, fishermen and skiers guesting here.

Built in 1170 Stave Church Haltdalen is one of the oldest of Norway; however, it was dismantled in 1884, brought to Trondheim and 1937 situated in the Trøndelag Folk Museum, where they can still be seen today. 2004, a copy of the stave church was in Haltdalen, the original site, built.
