Home Office

Home Office ( formerly the Home Department ) is the name of the British Home Office. In its jurisdiction are matters of internal security such as fighting crime, drug trafficking and terrorism, as well as the Privacy Policy. It is also responsible for border management and combating illegal immigration.

Interior Minister ( Home Secretary ) Theresa May is currently (CP ), which replaced Alan Johnson ( LP) in May 2010.

History

On March 17, 1782, the two were until then existing British ministries new names. The former "Southern Department " (responsible for the south of England, Ireland and relations with non- Protestant countries of Europe ) has been renamed to the home office. The " Northern Department " (responsible for the North of England, Scotland, and relations with the Protestant states of Europe) was called from that day as the Foreign Office. This was associated with a transition of all internal affairs in the home office and all matters with respect to the foreign country to the Foreign Office.

All subsequent UK government departments caused by transfer of responsibilities from the Home Office.
