Honoré V, Prince of Monaco

Honoré V. Monaco ( born May 14, 1778 in Paris, † October 2, 1841 ibid ) was from 1819 until his death reigning prince of Monaco. He was the son of his predecessor Honoré IV and of Louise d' Aumont Mazarin, Duchess of Mazarin and La Meilleraye.

Honoré came to power in 1819 after the Principality of 1815 had become a protectorate of the Kingdom of Sardinia. Through a tight governance, he tried the poor economic situation of the Principality - partly at the expense of the people - to improve. In 1833 it came in Menton protests of the people against him. After his death, his brother Florestan took control.
