Hope Crisp

Hope Crisp ( born February 6, 1884 in London, † March 25, 1950 ) was a British tennis player.

Life

Crisp, who arrived in London's Highgate born in 1884, studied at the University of Cambridge. From 1911 to 1914 he took part in tennis tournaments. In 1913 he won together with Agnes Tuckey against Ethel Thomson and James Parke, the first official championship in mixed doubles Wimbledon Championships.

During the First World War, he was severely wounded in April 1915 at Ypres, so that he had a leg amputated. After the war, he took part with a prosthetic leg at tennis tournaments. In 1919 he played alongside of Mrs. Perret in mixed competition at Wimbledon, but lost already the first game.

He died in 1950 at the age of 66 years in London's Roehampton.
