Hormel

Hormel Foods Corporation is a publicly listed food company from Austin, Minnesota. Mainly known as a producer of Hormel 's luncheon meat brand of spam. In addition to the same brand sold Hormel also foods under the brand names such as Jennie -O, Stagg and Carapelli.

History

Creation and expansion

Hormel was founded in 1891 by George A. Hormel, the son of German immigrants, as George A. Hormel & Company in Austin in southeastern Minnesota. On the site of an old dairy Hormel opened his company, which submitted its initial focus on the production and sale of meat products. At the end of the year Hormel employed six people.
