Horst Brandstätter

Horst Brandstätter (* June 27, 1933 in Fuerth ) is a German entrepreneur.

1954 Horst Brandstätter joined the company geobra Brandstätter. Were made ​​at that time, especially toy phones, money boxes and buying shop items initially made ​​of sheet metal and later plastic.

In 1958, we recorded a sensational success with hula -hoops. After that, the company expanded with various products from the toy and leisure area, all made ​​of plastic.

The oil crisis of the early 1970s affected the traditional geobra Toys range. This prompted Brandstätter to create an expandable system toys with high play value with the lowest possible raw material consumption. Horst Brandstätter thought of a vehicle series for young children in which he imagined can also sit in plain figures. The developer Hans Beck, this approach was too simple and he developed a series of similar underlying figures, which differed only by the color scheme and the addition of appropriate pieces of equipment: the system toy Playmobil. The first figures were presented in 1974 at the International Toy Fair.

Horst Brandstätter is the founder of the foundation " Children promote Playmobil " and the theme parks " Playmobil Fun Park " that are geared towards active employment and physical activity of children.
