Course of the river

The river has its source in a small lake about 100 km north of Dease Arm, a bay of the Great Bear Lake. It flows through the Smoking Hills and flows east of Cape Bathurst in the Franklin Bay and the Amundsen Gulf. There he forms a small river delta, about 125 km northwest of the community Paulatuk. The mouth was around 1800 or 100 km north of its present location, on the Harrowby Bay on the west side of Cape Bathurst. A meander - arm eroded its surroundings and thus led to the diversion of the river.
