Inuvik Region
The Inuvik Region is one of two census regions of the Northwest Territories, Canada. It consists of the northern and western part of the Northwest Territories. The economic center is the city of Inuvik. The Canadian census of 2006 lists a total population of 9,192 people and an area of 522,215 km ². 7,335 people gave English, 75 French and 1,710 " other languages " as a mother tongue. Asked about knowledge of official languages (English, French) gave 8.715 people only English, 345 English and French and 60 neither English nor to speak French. 235 people immigrated, including 35 since the last census in 2001 and 6940 identified themselves as Aboriginal.

Inuvik Administrative Region
Inuvik region is also one of five administrative regions in the Northwest Territories. The name is the same though, but the cut of the regions differs. The Regional Office is based in Inuvik, one of the eight municipalities of the region. These are mostly in the area of Beaufortseeküste. The population is composed of Inuvialuit (Inuit ) and Gwich'in ( First Nation ).
