Hosszúhetény

Hosszúhetény [ ho ː u ː ː ɲ hɛte ] ( German also: Hetting or Langhetting ) is a municipality with 3,387 inhabitants ( 2011) in southern Hungary in Transdanubia Baranya county. It lies at the foot of the mountain Zengő on the edge of the Mecsek Mountains and north of the country road 6 The place can be found 16 km northeast of Pécs.

The Catholic Church (1733-1741) was built in the late Baroque style, completed the former bishop's palace in 1797. The accompanying Castle Garden is now a protected Arboretum. A flourishing in the area protected plant species is the Banat peony that blooms in May.

For administrative territory of the commune include Püspökszentlászló and Kisújbánya, two settlements of the nature reserve " Eastern Mecsek Mountains ". The village festival takes place in late June on the occasion of the fair Püspökszentlászló.

Twinning

12 August 2011 Hosszúhetény and the German community Alfdorf have entered into a partnership. The goal is the particular student exchange.
