Hosten

Hosting in the Eifel is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality memory.

History

Was first mentioned as the place " Houestedem " along with Auw at the Kyll in a goods classification of the Abbey of St. Maximin in Trier from the early 13th century. The Maximiner Hofgut formed the center, and possibly also the starting point of colonization. In 1798 it was left to the previous leaseholder Christoph Meyer, but soon resold it.

The few farms Hostens, 1473 was one of the three place, 1636, only two households, rose to 19 farms ( about 1840 ) and 48 ( around 1980 ) in the 19th century and 20th century. 1865 was hosting its first church in 1898 and its own school. The church was destroyed in the war, so that one in 1950 decided to build a new church on the same site. This was completed and consecrated by the Bishop of Trier and later diocesan Bishop Bernard Stone in October 1953. It is located on the hl. Dedicated to Josef.

The local council in hosting consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Coat of arms

The blazon is: " From Silver shared through blue, green stems up to three flat blue flowers with golden slugs down a golden chisels ".

In the oral tradition has been to date knowledge of the " Maximiner Hof" a farmstead of the important abbey of St. Maximin in Trier obtained. As an indication of the farm and the agricultural situation are the flat flowers. The Moil recalls the significant in former times sandstone industry of the room.
