History

Singer Rob Werthner has a considerable number of musical influences. Thus we find in the band's sound a lot of Fishbone and the Red Hot Chili Peppers again, coupled with harmonious sounds. In the self-titled debut album, so hip-hop and punk sounds find.

On the subject of "Where does the band name? says frontman Werthner: "I wanted with a little irreverence that brings the people to think about a name. In the early 1990s, was at the NYPD (New York Police Department ) a guy who wore a full-blown mullet hairstyle. That was so out that we only, Hot Action Cop ' called him. "

Werthner was playing only in New York, before moving to Tennessee. Tennessee is much smaller, so he hoped there to be more rapidly known. He also tells that he had his best time in Nashville. He could concentrate on his stuff. The people there were very different. Unlike New York City, people in Nashville lived simply, without worrying about their appearance. Two years ago, he had completed some songs, when the phone rang and he had to put together a band.

The drummer Kory Knipp and bassist Luis Espaillat came to Werthner into the studio when he recorded some songs there. They helped with a few tracks, and Werthner liked her attitude, so he hired her as band members. Tim Flaherty finally joined as guitarist. The lyrics for the album Hot Action Cop come from Werth agent desperate love life and are his direct response to the many women with whom he had a date. So he says: " When I moved to Tennessee, I separated from the woman with whom I had come. I had appointments with seven different women at the same time - it was nightmarish. I told them straight out that I still meet up with other people, and the girls all told that they do not mind, until she suddenly revealed that it bothers them yet. "

Sometimes they start spontaneously " jam " and throw up a couple of cover versions. For example, they then play harder versions of the songs Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd or Could You Be Loved by Bob Marley.
