Houdan
Houdan is a commune with 3337 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Yvelines department in the Île- de -France region; it belongs to the arrondissement Mantes- la -Jolie and Canton Houdan. The village is located about 25 kilometers southwest of Mantes- la -Jolie on the banks of Vesgre.

History
The old spelling of the place name is Hosdench. Houdan belonged from the 10th century, the lords of Montfort and thus later the Dukes of Brittany, thus came the marriage of Anne of Brittany and Louis XII. in the Domaine royal. Louis XV. Houdan ceded to the house of Albert and received land in the vicinity of the park of Versailles.
