Boissets

Boissets is a commune in the region Ile- de -France in the department of Yvelines. 1802, the municipality was assigned to the Canton Houdan. The village is located around 20 km south-east of Mantes- la -Jolie and has 267 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011).

Geography

Boissets lies in the natural landscape at the western edge Mantois the department of Yvelines and thus on the border of the Eure -et -Loir. The municipal area is dominated by agriculture, 90 %, 10 % is forested. The village is on the route Departmental 115, which connects with Longnes Dannemarie connected.

In the village, behind the Church of Saint- Hilaire, springs the Vaucouleurs. It flows to the north and flows about 20 km in Mantes -la -Ville in the Seine.

History

Boissets in 1590 by Charles II de Lorraine - Guise, head of the Catholic League, who was preparing there on the battle of Ivry, occupied and looted.

Attractions

  • The church of Saint -Hilaire from the 15th century (restored in 1979 and 1999) was classified in 1950 as a monument historique.
  • The Oratory of Saint Odo, the second abbot of Cluny, is at the source of Vaucouleurs. The prayer house was up to the Second World War as a popular place of pilgrimage. The Holy Odo is invoked in prayer for rain and drought.
  • A Lavoir from the 19th century.
  • The Jardin des senteurs is an herb garden next to the source of Vaucouleurs. It is maintained by the municipality and the inhabitants of Boissets allowed to operate freely here.
  • The park, Parc du Douaire.
  • The headwaters of Vaucouleurs were designed by landscape gardeners attractive. Compared to the oratory, which was marked one side erected a small weir. Thus, a pond, which dampens the roar and by aquatic plants sprout emerged before the house of prayer. Two small bridges span the source arms. Forsythia, willow and poplar trees adorn the plant and provide shade. An arts and crafts tile image, designed by local ceramics club, shows the course of Vaucouleurs to the mouth and also the churches of all villages in their valley.
