House of Mojmir

The Mojmiriden (Latin: Moimarii, Slovak and Czech: Mojmir ) was a Moravian dynasty, which ruled the early medieval Mährerreich from the beginning of the 9th century to the early 10th century. The name of the dynasty is derived Mojmiriden one hand from her first historically known rulers from Mojmir I., on the other hand it is also historically in a letter of complaint to the Bavarian bishops occupied by July of the year 900.

Whether Mojmir I. has to be regarded as the founder of the dynasty has become controversial. About the development of the dynasty after 906 there are only guesses. The Mojmiriden ruled primarily on the present territories of Moravia, Slovakia, Lower Austria and northern Hungary, and temporarily in the neighboring areas.

Controversial ruling

Johannes Aventinus states in its Bavarian Chronicle that in the year 805 by the Moravian prince Vratislav were restored on the basis of Roman ruins Bratislava castle and has renamed itself to Wratisslaburgium ( Vratislava ). Whether Vratislav has been in contact with the later Mojmiriden is unclear.

Also controversial is the historical existence of the alleged third son of Svatopluk I., Predslav ( Latin Predeslaus ). also prevailed in today's Bratislava and this should have also named after the ( Brezalauspurc, Preslavvaspurch, PRESLAVVA CIV [ ITAS ] ).
