Howard Sackler

Howard O. Sackler ( born December 19, 1929 in New York City; † October 12, 1982 in Ibiza, Spain) was an American screenwriter and playwright, best known for his play The Great White Hope with both the Pulitzer Prize for 1969 theater and was awarded the Tony Award for best play.

Life

Sackler began in the mid -1950s to work as a screenwriter, and wrote in 1953 along with Stanley Kubrick on the screenplay for his first film, Fear and Desire. In 1954 he wrote his first play Uriel Acosta. In 1955, he reunited with Kubrick and wrote the screenplay for this film whose The Tiger of New York.
