Hoya serpens is a species of the genus of the Wax Flower ( Hoya ) of the subfamily of milkweed plants ( Asclepiadoideae ).

Features

Hoya serpens is short, creeping, hairy little shoots that have nodes with roots. The little hairy leaf blades are nearly round to slightly oval or elliptical they are up to 15 mm long and 12 mm wide. The top shows a dull green color, the underside is lighter. They are sitting on about 4 mm stems. The inflorescence is suspended and has to eight flowers on. The stalk of the inflorescence is up to 3.5 cm long and is slightly hairy. The flower stems are up to 2 cm long. The corolla has a diameter of about 1.5 cm and is white to light greenish. The crown tip are tapered and measure 5 x 3 mm. The edges are bent; they are inside densely hairy. The white corona also has a diameter of 7 mm and 3 mm high. The staminale corona lobes are elliptical, 3.5 mm long and 2 mm wide. The internal extension is pointed, and dark pink colored, the outer extension oval, pointed and curved tapering slightly upward.

Geographical occurrence

The species is probably originally only in Nepal and India ( Sikkim ). An isolated occurrence in Australia ( Queensland) is explained with anthropogenic naturalization.
