HP OpenView

HP OpenView is a software portfolio of Hewlett -Packard for managing and monitoring the IT infrastructure of large companies. Network Node Manager iSeries ( NNMi )

The NNMi is currently available in version 9:20 (October 2012). There are two versions: Standard and Advanced Edition. Both versions are licensed by the number of monitored nodes. The NNMi is used for SNMP monitoring the IP layer of the network components. These are typically switches, routers and firewalls. OpenView Operations

For application and system management. From a management server monitor scripts can be distributed to the agents on each system centrally controlled, for example, report that messages about the system and application status to the management server. Using a GUI, administrators can view these messages and possibly start stored actions.

The product was integrated after the acquisition of the company Peregrine Systems, Inc. (December 2005 ) in HP OV. The 6.x series is the first issue of HP Service Center at Flag.

In December 2008, is the latest version of HP OpenView Service Center (former Peregrine Service Center / known as " PSC " ) 7.x published. Version 7.x and later the OpenView software is now called " Service Manager " and as such, is sold.

Data Protector

For backup, both locally as well as over a LAN or SAN. There are plug-ins for some applications (eg SAP), databases ( such as Oracle and DB2 ) and disk arrays (eg, Symmetrix, HP XP) available to run an integrated hot backup can. Up to and including version 4.1, the product was called OmniBack, previously Apollo.

Performance Agent ( HPPA, formerly OVPA )

To collect performance data such as memory usage, disk throughput, CPU utilization.

Performance Manager ( HPPM, formerly OVPM )

For real-time evaluation of performance data obtained from the performance agent, for example, by graphical display of historical data.

Reporter ( HPR, formerly OVR )

Collects performance and availability data that are typically collected by the HP Performance Agent, in a database and created such as monthly performance reports from it.

Unlike, say, Microsoft's SMS OpenView is also suitable to manage heterogeneous IT landscapes with Linux, UNIX, mainframes and Microsoft Windows.
