Hrádok

Hrádok ( until 1927 slovak also " Hradek "; Hungarian Temetvény - Hradek until 1907 ) a municipality in western Slovakia with 661 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2011), which belongs to Okres Nové Mesto nad Váhom, a part of the Trenčín Region.

Geography

The community is located at the junction of a spur of the Slovak Danube lowlands to the mountains Považský Inovec, on the left bank of the Waag. The center is located at an altitude of 197 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom, and 16 kilometers from Piešťany.

History

The town was first mentioned in 1246 as Harranuk writing and refers to the existence of an older fort. Hrádok belonged to the dominion of the nearby castle Tematín. In the 16th century Hrádocká originated in the valley kotlina individual farms as a result of the Wallachian colonization.
