Hugh Beaumont

Eugene Hugh Beaumont ( born February 16, 1909 in Eudora, Kansas, † May 14, 1982 in Munich, Germany ) was an American actor and director.

Life

Beaumont initially attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, 1946, he graduated from the University of Southern California, a master's degree in theology. As early as 1931, he began his career as an actor, first in local theaters and nightclubs. From the early 1940s he appeared in numerous feature films, initially only on parts and minor supporting roles without attribution in the credits. He had a first career high 1946-1947, when he took over the role of private detective Michael Shayne by Lloyd Nolan and starred in five movies of the series. In the 1950s he was mainly seen in television productions and has guest starred, among others in the series, the Texas Rangers and Lassie. He also had some minor roles in Westerns, including the Oscar - Nominated The world belongs to him with Tyrone Power and the clock expired with James Stewart.
