Hull and Holderness Railway

The Hull and Holderness Railway was a railway line in the northern English county of East Riding of Yorkshire. She joined Kingston upon Hull over the southern Holderness with the seaside resort of Withernsea on the North Sea coast and was in operation from 1854 to 1964.

History

The construction of the railway was initiated by Anthony Bannister, a businessman from Hull. His idea was to open up the construction of the route the valuable agricultural Holderness level and promote the conversion of the coastal town of Withernsea to a seaside resort.

The railway line was officially opened on 26 June 1854. Originally the trains from the Victoria Dock Station, 1864 were moved to the starting point, however, the Paragon of North Eastern Railway Station.

The track dropped in 1964 savings plans of British Rail victim, so that the last passenger train on 19 October of the same year wrong on it. Goods transports were handled until May 3, 1965 the entire route, but only up to 1968 Hedon, and before complete closure of the railway line in 1972, only to Marfleet.
