Humlegården

Humlegarden is a park in the district of Östermalm in Stockholm.

The park was originally established under John III. created as a royal vegetable garden. Here grew fruit trees, herbs, and later hops ( Swedish: Humle ), which gives the park its name. Then the terrain fell a time until King Adolf Frederick the end of the 18th century bought from the garden of the city. He had to upgrade the park again befitting. Over the years, it served theater seats, Enclosure, amusement parks and public houses. 1869, the Park was released to the public. Since 1878, there is the royal library in the park, which is Sweden's national library at the same time.
