Hunter Rouse

Hunter Rouse ( born March 29, 1906 in Toledo (Ohio ), † 16 October 1996 in Sun City (Arizona ) ) was an American engineer scientist working in the field of hydrodynamics and hydraulics. He was for many years director of the Iowa Center for Hydraulic Research ( IIHR ) at the University of Iowa and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the local (College of Engineering ).

He is known in the U.S. for a rational justification of the hydraulic by the hydrodynamic theory, which was reflected in several popular textbooks. He also published several educational films about hydraulics. He also wrote a history of hydraulics.

He was married to the German -born Dorothee Hüsmert and had with her two sons and a daughter. His son, Richard H. Rouse is a medievalist.
