Husik Santurjan

Husik Santurjan (Armenian Հուսիկ Սանթուրյան, Russian Усик Сантурян; * as Azat Santurjan 1920 in Sebastia (Sivas ), Turkey, † February 1, 2011 in Echmiadzin, Armenia ) was Archbishop of the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Life

Santurjan immigrated 1947 in Armenia and studied at the Theological Seminary in Echmiadzin. In 1961 he was archbishop of the Diocese of the Armenian Azerbaijan. In 1962 consecrated bishop by Vazken I, the " Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians ". Santurjan was almost 30 years Chief monk of the monastic brotherhood of the Holy Echmiadzin. He died in St. Gayane monastery in Echmiadzin, where he was cared for by nuns of the monastery since the beginning of 2011.

Awards

Patriarch Karekin II Nersissian honored him for his many years of service with the Order " St. Nerses Schnorhali " of the Armenian Church.
