Huyghe Brewery

In the municipality Melle exists since the year 1654 a detectable brewing tradition; the beer was brewed from this time in the so-called Appelhoek. After Léon Huyghe had settled in 1902 in Melle, he bought in 1906 this brewery and renamed it Brouwerij - Mouterij the Appel order. From the year 1936, new brewery building was begun with the construction and the family changed its name from 1938 under the name Leon Huyghe Ltd.. In 1939, the new factory building and the brewing hall were completed, which are still used today. In 1985, a comprehensive reconstruction of the brewery and the first time the export of beer produced was decided.
