Hyderabad, Sindh

History

Hyderabad was founded in 1768 by Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhoro in an area with several hills and was first called Nehrun feces. Its founder also built on a hill, the fortress Pacca Qilla.

After the death of the founder of Hyderabad capital of the dominion of Mir Fateh Ali Khan Talpur, who resided in Pacca Qilla since 1789. On March 24, 1843 captured after the Battle of Miani the British under General Charles James Napier, the city which then held the rule until the independence of Pakistan. After Hyderabad was from 1947 to 1955 the capital of Sindh.

Economy

The city is the commercial center of millet, wheat, rice and cotton. There are textiles, jewelery, leather, metal, paint, glass, and cement produced

Geography

Hyderabad is 150 km from Karachi removed. The city is located at about 13 m and receives an annual average approximately 180 mm of precipitation. She is tied to the Pakistani National Highway N- 5, which is the most important traffic artery of the country.

Education

Hyderabad is home to several significant universities within Pakistan, most of which were first established in 1947 and 1963. Most are, however, in the town of Jamshoro, situated on the outskirts of Hyderabad. Major are:

Religion

The city is the seat of a diocese of the Church of Pakistan as well as the seat of the Diocese of Hyderabad in Pakistan.
