Ian Donald

Ian Donald (* December 27, 1910 in Cornwall, Scotland, † 19 June 1987) was a British gynecologist.

In 1958 he laid the foundation of prenatal diagnosis with the initial sonographic presentation of an unborn child. This application he developed with his colleagues at the Glasgow Royal Maternity Hospital ( GRMH ) in Glasgow. The results were published on June 7, 1958 in The Lancet, entitled Investigation of Abdominal Masses by Pulsed Ultrasound.
