Ian Dyk

Ian Dyk (born 15 September 1985) is an Australian former racing driver. He entered 2007 in the A1 Grand Prix.

Career

Dyk began his motorsport career in 1991 in Motocross, where he was active until 1995. In 1996 he moved to karting, the position he held until 2000. 2001 Dyk went into formula racing. He made his debut in Formula Ford New South Wales, where he reached the fourth place in the following season. He also competed in the 2002 Australian Formula Ford and finished 19th in the driver standings. In 2003, he remained in the Australian Formula Ford and finished the season with a podium placing on top of the seventh championship course. In addition, he debuted in the Australian Formula 3 Championship and took part in two races. He scored a podium position and a fastest lap. In 2004, he contested the 14 of 17 races in the Australian Formula 3 Championship. He scored three victories and finished the season in third place in the overall rating.

2005 Dyk had experiences in GT racing and participated in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup. In addition, he appeared again in the Australian Formula 3 Championship and posted two participations victory. In 2006, he was half a season in the Australian Porsche Carrera Cup and was active Gesamtelfter with a podium placement.

2007 moved Dyk in the A1 Grand Prix and returned to Formula racing. He took the Australian A1 Team participated in the last three race weekends, and took over the vehicle, which was previously driven by Ryan Briscoe and Karl Reindler. Already in his first race with a third place Dyk scored a podium placement. It was his only one in the A1GP. His teammates had previously also each scored a third place. After Dyk had attended a meeting of the Australian Formula 3 in the summer, he returned to the A1 Grand Prix in winter 2007/ 2008. He started the first four race weekends, scoring a ninth place as best result. For the remainder of the season he was replaced by John Martin. Then Dyk was more active in any racing series.

After the end of his career as a racing driver Dyk is active as a driving instructor and is also a member of the Toyota Hilux Hero's, a stunt team.
