Ibrahim Ibrahim (bishop)

Life

Ibrahim studied theology and earned a degree as a Bachelor of Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Then he made, also in Rome, a master's degree in theology at the Pontifical Lateran University. He is fluent in English, French, Arabic, Italian and Greek. On 18 July 1987 he was ordained in Sidon to the religious priest of the Melkite Basilian the Most Holy Redeemer. Ibraham went to the United States and became the pastor of the parish of Saint Elias in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1990 he was appointed Archimandrite and proto- presbyter for the West Region of the Eparchy of Newton under Archbishop Ignatius Ghattas. At the same time he was Prior of working in the U.S. Chaplain of the Basilian responsible for ecumenical affairs.

On 18 June 2003 the appointment followed the bishop of Saint- Sauveur de Montréal by the Synod of Bishops of the Melkite Church. At the age of 41 years he became the youngest bishop of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church. On 17 August 2003, the Patriarch of Antioch Gregory III initiated. Laham ordination.
