Icaridin is a broad-spectrum repellent against insects. The rights associated with Lanxess AG.
Originally the name Picaridin or Hepidanin was proposed for the active substance ( and is also still used in different countries), but the World Health Organization ( WHO) as the International Non-proprietary Names ( INN) set the name Icaridin.
Icaridin is chiral and contains two stereocenters. The active ingredient is used as a mixture of the four stereoisomers, the racemic mixture of the (R, R) - and the (S, S) form on the one hand and the racemate of (R, S) - and the ( S, R) - form on the other hand are present in approximately a 1:1 ratio.
