Band History

Were founded in 1980 by Icehouse Iva Davies and Keith Welsh. From 1977 to 1980 she toured under the name "Flowers" by Australian clubs. As they had in 1980 released their first album Icehouse, and then in 1981 toured the USA, they changed the name to " Icehouse ".

Iva Davies is the driving force behind Icehouse and the only member of the original cast that is still left in the band. Although many of their albums sold well, they have never sought to develop a commercial style. Often changing line-up and the associated influences helped the band to develop more and more.

Early to mid- 1980s met the gentle and calm voice of Davies and the supported sound exactly the spirit of the times. With single releases such as Hey Little Girl and Street Café in 1983 they stormed the charts worldwide. Both vocally and technically sound could be confused with Roxy Music easily. Although it then only rarely were such single- successes, Davies works with changing line- up today and released albums.

New Year's Eve 1999 saw nearly 2.5 billion people, the fireworks in Sydney. Was accompanied Musically, the performance of a 25 -minute version of Great Southern Land, the Davies The Ghost of Time called. Was recorded, the recording from the Sydney Symphonic Orchestra.
