Igor Dmitriev

Igor Borisovich Dmitriev (Russian Игорь Борисович Дмитриев, scientific transliteration Igor Dmitriev Borisovic; * May 29, 1927 in Leningrad, † 26 January 2008) was a Russian film and theater actor who often played aristocratic characters in historical films.

Igor Dmitriev was born in Leningrad, the son of a sailing athlete and a ballerina. In 1948 he completed a course in the drama studio at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre and began in 1949 when Wera Komissarzhevskaya Theatre to work in Leningrad. Between 1967 and 1984 he was employed in parallel at Lenfilm. From 1984, and until his death he played in the Nikolai Akimov Comedy Theatre. Dmitriev worked with directors such as Georgi Tovstonogov, Sergei Gerasimov and Jan Frid. He starred in more than 120 films, not only in the USSR and Russia, but also in Hungary, Poland, East Germany, USA, Morocco and Algeria.

In 1988, given the title of People's Artist of the RSFSR was awarded. Most recently, he worked in radio and read numerous literary works of Leo Tolstoy, Theodore Dreiser, Guy de Maupassant, Émile Zola, and Anton Chekhov.
