Igor Korneev

Igor Vladimirovich Korneev (Russian Игорь Владимирович Корнеев; born September 4, 1967 in Moscow ) is a retired Russian football player and current football coach.

Kornejew began his career in the junior team of Spartak Moscow. In 1986 he moved to CSKA Moscow. The goalscoring midfielder from the 1987 season starting players for the first team. With CSKA he won the 1991 Soviet league and cup competition. 1991 Kornejew was also elected to the Russian Footballer of the Year. After 180 games for CSKA in which he scored 58 goals, he moved to the beginning of the 1991/92 season to Spain for Espanyol, he played for this team for three seasons in the Primera Division 73 matches and scored 21 goals. At the beginning of the 1994/95 season he switched to the big local rivals FC Barcelona but where he ultimately could not prevail. In 1995 Kornejew in the Netherlands, initially for SC Heerenveen, 1997, to Feyenoord Rotterdam. In 2002, he ended his active career at NAC Breda.

Kornejew debuted in 1991 in the national football team of the USSR. In total he played until the collapse of the state five times for the Sbornaja, where he scored three goals. He began with the selection of the CIS part in the European Championship in 1992 and was once used during the tournament. After this tournament he played eight times for the Russian national team, and participated in the World Cup 1994.

His career as a coach began Kornejew 2004 at Feyenoord as coach of the junior team. From 2006 to 2010 he was assistant coach of the Russian national team. Since 2010 he has been sports director of Zenit Saint Petersburg.
