II (Moderat-Album)

II ( also sometimes referred to as Moderate II) is the second album of the Berlin project Moderate, consisting of Modeselektor and apparatus. It was on August 2, 2013 Monkeytown Records published with the support of Mute for distribution in the United States and Canada.

Creation and publication

In the years after the first Moderate album of 2009, dedicated Modeselektor and apparatus to their own careers. Apparatus published in 2011 his fourth album The Devil 's Walk, and two years later, war and peace, the soundtrack to a theatrical realization of the eponymous novel by Leo Tolstoy. Modeselektor Monkeytown Records founded with his own label in 2011 and released their third studio album Monkeytown.

At the turn of 2012/2013 the work on the new joint album, which was officially announced before completion end of January began. Overall, the musicians worked six months II

The album was released as a download, CD and vinyl record and CD Deluxe, Deluxe double LP and as a double LP Deluxe Limited Coloured Vinyl.

II is supported by an extensive tour of Europe, North America and other regions. As with the tour for the first album, the design collective Scouting provides visual support in the form of videos and arrangement of the stage show.

The first single from the album Bad Kingdom was released on July 12 as a limited 10 "along with an instrumental version. Pfadfinderei created a music video, which is held in a similar graphic style as the cover. The video was on the music page Pitchfork, by publication the Youtube supports broadcast stations. on July 31, the band announced on their Facebook page that the album can be heard as a preview on Spotify.

General

Unlike the first album, which afforded under other Busdriver, Paul St. Hilaire and Dellé by Seeed as a guest musician, II contains no collaborations.

As with the first album, the cover artwork was designed by graphic artist, musician and long-time friend of the band Siriusmo. More artwork was created by Scouting.

The album combines different musical direction, and contains elements of classic techno, electronic pop music, IDM, Ambient and Dubstep/2-Step garage.

On the page Metacritic.com album holds a rating based on 25 reviews rating of 73 out of 100 points, which in a " mainly positive " rating means.
