Iker Iturbe

Iker Iturbe Martínez de Lecea (* July 10, 1976 in Vitoria- Gasteiz ) is a Spanish professional basketball player. It measures 1.99 m and plays as a small forward or power forward.

Career

Iker Iturbe began his career in the basketball team Olabide Ikastola in his home town of Vitoria- Gasteiz. At age 16, he continued his career in the United States between 1992 and 1994 in the Totino -Grace High School ( Minnesota) and from 1994 to 1998, the Atlantic Coast Conference ( NCAA), for the Clemson Tigers.

In the summer of 1998, he finally moved to Real Madrid, with whom he won the Spanish league title in the 1999/2000 season. Between 2002 and 2007 Iker Iturbe was active for city rivals Estudiantes CB, 2003/ 04 reached the league final, subject to there but with his team in the playoffs just against FC Barcelona. In the summer of 2007, the Serie A team Bologna Upim undertook the Basques, but even during the season, he returned to Real Madrid, who were looking for replacement due to a lengthy injury of Venson Hamilton. In August of the same year he moved again to city rivals Estudiantes.

Iker Iturbe has 29 games for the Spanish national contest and was part of the banns for the 2004 Olympic Games and the 2005 European Championships
